Rodney (Rod) Paterson grew up on a farm in Tasmania, Australia and from an early age became interested in the environment and its importance to humankind. After graduating from the University of Tasmania with a Bachelor of Arts and Graduate Diploma of Psychology Rod moved to Melbourne and began what became a long career as a Fundraiser for Greenpeace.
Rod worked for Greenpeace in Europe for 5 years across a range of countries that included Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Turkey, Lebanon and Israel. He then spent a year in Hong Kong before taking the job of Fundraising Director at Greenpeace South East Asia, based in Bangkok. This is where he met Premika Bulakul and they realised that they have a shared interest in both the NGO sector and the Arts.
After leaving Greenpeace in 2016, Rod moved back to Australia but continued to visit Thailand frequently as a fundraising consultant where he kept in touch with Premika Bulakul and also met Nattaphon Chaiworawat. Rod and his partner Anita have been actively involved with both Premika and Chaiworawat in developing the concept of Open Source Art Performance.
Rod continues to work actively across Asia as a fundraising consultant and in addition to Thailand, has experience in Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mainland China, South Korea, India.
When in Bangkok, Rod likes to explore the art scene, visiting both the larger institutions like BACC but also the many small galleries that have appeared in recent years. He is keen to help Open Source to develop it’s archive platform to promote and preserve the work of contemporary Thai artists.
